What is Aarogya Setu App:

Aarogya Setu App, India’s main contact tracing technology, was launched on April 2nd this year. The stated purpose of this app is to spread awareness of COVID-19 and to connect essential COVID-19 – related health services to the people of India.The app was developed by the National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

It is a tracking app which uses the smartphone’s GPS and Bluetooth features to track the coronavirus infection. The app is available for Android and iOS mobile operating systems.

Aarogya Setu has four sections:

1. Your Status (tells the risk of getting COVID-19 for the user),
2. Self Assess (lets the user know the risk of being infected),
3. COVID-19 Update (gives updates on local and national COVID-19 cases) and
4. E-pass (If applied for E-pass, it will be available).

Tells how many COVID-19 positive cases are likely in a radius of 500m, 1 km, 2 km, 5 km and 10 km from the user.

The app is built on a platform that can provide an Application Programming Interface (API) so that other computer programs, mobile applications, and web services can make use of the features and data available in Aarogya setu.

What’s Changed:

There’s change in terms of service and privacy policy of the official contact tracking app Aarogya Setu. Seven terms and privacy policy have been revised:

These changes are summarized below:

1. Failure to comply with the terms of service no longer results in suspension
2. Reference to the convince services and epass features
3. Clarifications provided ass to the consequence of not keeping the phone with you
4.The restrictions on tempering and reverse engineering have been removed
5.It has been made clear that it is only if you delete the app that you will not no longer be able to use the service
6.Clarifications as to the liability of the government for certain actions and disclaimers
7.Contact information has been provided for detect reporting

Other changes to the app interface

• At the time of registration, the options for professions have been expanded and now include: doctor/nurse/paramedic, police/officers/law enforcement, delivery, chemist/pharmacy, wholesaler/groceries, industry/manufacturer, retailer, and none of the above.

Recently the Aarogya Setu app entered 100 millions. According to a tweet a by the official twitter handle of Aarogya Setu, the app has 110 million users across the Country.
